Book Description :

The thematic structure of Panzer is intended to advance the exploration of a radical military concept and its implementation in battle; an arrangement that I believe to be of greater benefit to the revolutionary ideas than that afforded by a more conservative and wholly chronological plan.

A preamble establishes Hitler's rise to power, noting the Fuhrer's influence as a national leader fostering rearmament and in particular the armoured idea in Germany after 1933, Hitler's subordinates and some anti-tank developments of significance are also introduced at this stage.

The post-war history of armoured forces is not included in the scope of this book ; I nevertheless believe that no modern army can escape indebtedness to the panzer revolution for leading the way to effective battlefield mobility. What this book makes clear is that the Wehrmacht failure to modernize its armed services in time for more protracted battles than those entailed in Blitzkrieg sounded the death knell of the pazer force before even the inplacable will of Hitler's enemies brought about the downfall of an inglorious Third Reich.
